Each year we celebrate the Birthday of Scouting with some scouting history and trivia, recognize the volunteers who make our program possible, and everyone’s favorite Blue and Gold Cake Bake!
The Cake Bake is a friendly dessert decorating competition. Taste is not part of the judging but we WILL EAT the entries after the meeting. There is a division for Lions and Tigers, and these scouts can decorate their entries any way they want. The older scouts will compete in the Cub division, and there are four categories for entries: Holidays, Transportation, Sports, and Scouting. The rules and details can be found here: https://www.bsapack564.org/resources/cake/ Participation in the Cake Bake is OPTIONAL – and even if you don’t enter a dessert, please come help us celebrate and eat the desserts afterwards!
We will have a special guest from the Sweetwater District office who will make a “Friends of Scouting” presentation. This is an opportunity to financially support our Scouts BSA Council properties. Participation is optional, and donations go toward the upkeep and maintenance of our three Council Camp Properties – Camp Rainey Mountain in Clayton, GA, Scoutland on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, GA, and Camp Rotary on Lake Hartwell in Hartwell, GA.
This year we have even more to celebrate as we will be returning to our Chartered Organization for our Pack Meetings! The March Pack will be next Tuesday March 8 at 7:00 PM in the Family Life Center (gym) of Mountain Park United Methodist Church at 1405 Rockbridge Rd near the intersection of Rockbridge Rd and Five Forks Trickum. This is not the church that shares parking lot access with the Kroger shopping center, but down Rockbridge a bit towards Walmart.
We are excited to return to Mountain Park UMC for our meetings, as it has been 2 years since our pack met indoors at our Chartered Organization. Because Gwinnett County is currently experiencing low COVID transmission rates, Mountain Park UMC’s policy says that masks are recommended indoors as we are a large group, but they are not mandatory. We ask that you not participate if you are ill or have a known covid exposure, and to wear a mask if anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms of cold, flu, or covid.
Be sure to join us next Tuesday for our Blue and Gold Pack Meeting!
