Fall family camping coordinator Michael Rennick has put together a list of gear that may come in handy for those of you attending Fall Family Camping Oct. 23-25 at Stone Mountain Park.
This list may be particularly useful for anyone new to camping, but it’s also a good refresher for the more veteran campers among us.
Remember, if you’re lacking gear, ask around to other families in your den or the pack before heading out to buy expensive outdoor equipment that you may only rarely use.
Registration for fall family camping closes Oct. 19. You can register and pay online using the form below. If you would like to pay with cash or check, please contact campout coordinator Michael Rennick or treasurer Nathan Stephens.
We have a full day of activities planned for Saturday, including a hike, an outdoor ethics class, a carnival put on by the Bear scouts, a pack campfire and more. Check the event page for all the details,
Please remember to fill out Parts A & B of the health form and turn them into your den leaders as soon as possible. Everyone in your family attending the campout must have a current form.
Our new pack t-shirts are done and will be available at Tuesday night’s pack meeting!
If you pre-ordered a shirt and paid for it, all you’ll need to do is pick yours up. If you pre-ordered but did not pay, or have not yet ordered one, you will need to bring cash or check to the pack meeting. Shirts are $10 each. Limited quantities of each size are available for purchase if you did not pre-order. New scouts and new leaders will receive one shirt at no cost.
These shirts replace the red Class B t-shirts and should be worn under the Class A uniform and anytime the den or pack leader calls for Class B uniforms.
We expect to begin taking registrations soon for our Spring Trip Feb. 27-28 to the Patriots Point and the USS Yorktown. Please mark these dates on your calendar.

A few things to think about as you mull your travel plans:
Due to expected rain and conditions at DeShong Park, Gwinnett County parks staff have requested we postpone our scheduled work day tomorrow.
Because of our busy pack schedule, holiday considerations and park needs, the only current viable options to reschedule are Oct. 31 and Dec. 12.
Alternatively, I can work on scheduling a spring work day. The caveat with this is that it may have to be scheduled too late to accommodate Arrow of Light scouts.
Please express your preference below. I’ll do my best to get it set up.
